Claude Goodfield – Physiotherapist MSc (Pre-reg), BSc
Claude is a skilled physiotherapist with a strong background in musculoskeletal and sports rehabilitation. He holds a Master of Science in Physiotherapy and a Bachelor of Science in Sport Science and Outdoor Activities. His approach focuses on helping individuals recover from injury, improve movement efficiency, and build long-term resilience against re-injury.
Claude has extensive experience in musculoskeletal rehabilitation, working with patients recovering from acute injuries, chronic pain, and post-surgical procedures. He has worked in orthopaedic settings, supporting patients after joint replacements, ligament reconstructions, and fractures—helping them regain strength, mobility, and function. Additionally, he has experience in neurorehabilitation, working with individuals recovering from conditions such as stroke and spinal cord injuries, focusing on improving movement patterns, balance, and coordination.
He specialises in strength and conditioning-based rehabilitation, movement analysis, and hands-on treatment techniques. Claude also integrates Pilates-based rehabilitation into his practice to enhance core stability, movement control, and overall body awareness, providing a strong foundation for recovery and injury prevention. His expertise extends to working with athletes, weekend warriors, and individuals recovering from workplace or lifestyle-related musculoskeletal issues.
Before qualifying as a physiotherapist, Claude built an extensive background in outdoor leadership, guiding on the glaciers of Iceland, leading mountain biking expeditions across British Columbia, the European Alps, and the UK, and working as an outdoor instructor. This experience gives him a deep understanding of movement mechanics, injury prevention, and performance demands, particularly in outdoor and endurance sports.
Now based in Inverness, Claude brings his expertise to Alba Physiotherapy, where he provides tailored rehabilitation programs that integrate strength training, functional movement, and progressive loading strategies. He believes in a holistic approach to rehab, combining evidence-based treatments with movement-based therapies like Pilates to help individuals return to their sport, work, or daily life stronger and more resilient than before.
Outside of physiotherapy, Claude stays active with mountain biking, running, climbing, hiking and skinny dipping in lochs, applying the same principles of movement and performance to his own training.
