Brid Walsh Founder of Alba Physiotherapy.
Brid qualified in 2004) with a BSC Honours Degree in Sports and Exercise Science from the University of Limerick, Ireland. In evaluating her future path, she spent a summer in Alaska with the Hope Foundation supporting disabilities of various sorts. Her further work experience in the Rehabilitation Centre in Dun Laoghaire, Dublin convinced her that Physiotherapy was the direction she wished to specialise in. In 2007 she subsequently qualified from the Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen with an MSC in Physiotherapy.
Since 2007 she has worked in Aberdeenshire, Edinburgh in a mix of private practice clinics and the NHS Highland. She has also enjoyed working with various Scottish Sports Teams, Scottish Surf Lifesaving Team, Gaelic Football, Scottish Women’s Academy Rugby Teams and Scottish Men’s University Rugby both at home and abroad.
After a holiday in the Highlands, she felt ‘at home’ with its people and culture feeling a close connection with her Irish roots. She relocated and founded Alba Physiotherapy in 2013, the first and only Chartered Human Physiotherapy and Veterinary Physiotherapy Clinic in the Highlands. She has postgraduate studies in Hippotherapy and Pilates and continues to keep pace with research, training and development.
When not in the Clinic Brid enjoys biking or hillwalking and returning when possible to her family in Ireland.
FUN FACT! – Brid has recently learnt how to ride a dirt bike motorbike “and now I’m hooked”.
Joy is our Veterinary Physiotherapist here at Alba physiotherapy
Her day consists of assessing and treating dogs with a variety of issues including post operative rehabilitation, conservative management or neurological orthopaedic diseases, sports dog working and much more. She works alongside vets to ensure the best treatment for each case. She additionally works with owners to educate and enable them to support and manage their dogs at home. An average day involves treating 10-12 dogs. Most days there will be a few virtual assessments for some new patients and the majority are follow up appointments. So each days there is a great variety of patients and no two cases or sessions are the same.
She is from New Zealand but have lived in the UK for 7 years, she initially came to the UK to work and travel. she worked in Wales at an eventing yard for 3 years which led her to doing a degree in Veterinary Physiotherapy as she wanted to help the horses, improving their performance and quality of life. Throughout her degree she discovered my interest and passion for dogs as well which led her to pursuing a career at Alba Physiotherapy which gives me the opportunity to practice on dogs and horses and really expand on my knowledge
Outside of work she loves being outdoors which is one of the reasons that drew her to the highlands, specifically she likes travelling, riding and playing football
The most rewarding part of the job for her is seeing patients progress and hearing from clients how big of a difference physiotherapy has made to them and their dogs lives
Fun fact: She is a twin !
Tabitha is our Clinic Manager and her main duties include ensuring the smooth running and marketing of the clinic, corresponding with our wonderful clients and making sure we never run out of coffee or tennis balls.
Originally from Manchester, Tabitha moved to the Highlands when she was 7 and spent the next decade living in “the middle of nowhere!”. The big city claimed her back for a few years before she settled in Inverness, a happy balance between her two childhood homes.
Tabitha LOVES to talk and fell into a career in sales where she sold windows, advertising, football sponsorship and bins!! Along her journey, she picked up management experience, new skills and gained qualifications in social media and marketing. Her love of learning and helping people is at the heart of everything she does.
“My favourite thing about working at Alba is the people, both the staff and the patients. There are such a mixture of characters and there’s always a story to be had. I always go home with a smile on my face and I hope I help others leave the clinic the same way”.
In her spare time Tabitha loves to cook, watch football, country rock and is a novice hillwalker (she complains all the way up and goes weeeeee all the way down)! She also enjoys spending time with her three grown up children and her grandson.
Fun Fact: Tabitha had a children’s story her father wrote for her illustrated and printed and sold over 500 copies in aid of Bowel Cancer UK
Ruie is the boss here at Alba Physiotherapy. She takes her work very seriously! She is passionate about providing a warm supportive welcome to set people at ease and has a very positive ‘pre-and post treatment effect’ for patients.
She is a Beardie X Collie and in her spare time she is a seriously keen biker dog and loves being in the hills.
FUN FACT! - Ruie loves examining the quality of the Clinics tennis balls
