Why Strength and Conditioning Matter for Runners

Injury prevention is crucial for every runner, whether you’re just starting or are an experienced athlete.strength and conditioning Research shows 70 percent of runners experience at least one injury each year. Common overuse injuries include runner’s knee, shin splints, and plantar fasciitis. Incorporating strength and conditioning into your routine can significantly reduce these risks.

Strength training enhances not only muscular strength but also stability and coordination. Stronger muscles and connective tissues improve joint support, allowing you to run more efficiently and with reduced injury risk. Research shows that runners who engage in strength training can improve their running economy by up to 8 percent, leading to better performance.

Alba Physiotherapy’s classes focus on evidence-based exercises targeting the specific muscle groups and movements crucial for running. This ensures that you build strength and develop the functional fitness necessary for optimal performance.
